Amazon Fire TV Device is not Responding

If your Fire TV device displays normally but you aren't able to use any controls, first try troubleshooting the remote. For more information on troubleshooting the remote, go to Pair a Fire TV Remote.

1. Restart your device

  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the device or from the power outlet, and then plug it back in.
  • You can also use your remote to restart your device. Press and hold the Select and Play/Pause buttons at the same time, for about five seconds.
  • Or, select Settings > Device > Restart from the Fire TV menu.

Make sure that you are using the power supply provided with your Fire TV device. Connect the included power adapter into the power port on the back of your Fire TV device, then plug the other end into a power outlet.

2. Troubleshoot the Nex-Tech TVNow app only

If you are only having issues with the Nex-Tech TVNow app, you can access the setting for it by going to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Nex-Tech TVNow

Force stop: will cause the application to close so customer can reopen the app by selecting from main screen.

  1. Select **Settings** from the Home Screen.
  2. Select **Applications**.
  3. Select **Manage Installed Applications**.
  4. Click on the frozen app.
  5. Click on **Force stop**.

Clear cache and data (which often resolves intermittent performance issues). Clearing data doesn't delete the app itself, but customer will need to sign back into their TVNow account.

  1. Go to **Settings** on your Fire TV.
  2. Select **Applications**.
  3. In **Manage Installed Applications**, select the app you are having trouble with.
  4. Select **Clear Cache**, and then **Clear Data**.

Uninstall and reinstall the app will remove the application from the Fire device, but customer will not lose recording. They can reinstall by searching for Nex-Tech in Apps & Channels.

  1. Go to **Settings** on your Fire TV device.
  2. Select **Applications**.
  3. Select **Manage Installed Applications**.
  4. Select the app you want to uninstall, and then **Uninstall**.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
